our story

Hello! I'm Sam
I’ve been practising yoga for over 20 years and teaching for a decade. It has been a reliable support through life's ups and downs. It has given me purpose, kept me healthy after surgeries and into the menopause and given me renewed vitality during stressful times. It has also helped me break free from old self limiting habits; I'm very passionate about sharing what has worked for me.

Alongside this, my professional life has included work within prisons and probation services, rooted in service and care within the criminal justice system. The retreat space I’ve created is a conscious counterbalance — a place of restoration, nervous system regulation and reconnection.

My approach weaves movement, breath practices and meditations from Indo-Tibetan lineages with yoga therapeutic techniques supported and validated by scientific research. Together, we explore practical ways to support the nervous system, enhance wellbeing, and cultivate inner steadiness.

Classes are carefully sequenced, blending dynamic flows to build strength and mobility, self-massage to stimulate energy channels, and restorative postures to release tension. We move with awareness, tune in deeply, and allow the breath to guide us.

Hey, I'm Jane
Passionate about nature and wellbeing, I have spent all of my life working as a cancer and end of life care nurse. Along the way I have gathered many tools, including Yoga, which has been a constant steadying thread for me. I believe in making yoga and it's wisdom accessible to all and have worked with children through to older people. I love the unique effect it has on every person and am privileged to be alongside that.
As part of the team at The Wild Space, I am the Community Manager, I curate many of the retreats we offer and I host with warmth and delicious nourishing food. On some retreat days, I also gently weave in my own offerings of yoga, mindfulness or yoga nidra. Being part of this space allows me to be present to the simplicity of the elements, which I find deeply refreshing and restorative.

Hi! I'm Tom
I work in sustainable & natural building and I renovated the wild space, shaping it with care, functionality and respect for the land.

Before moving fully into building, I spent over 25 years as a professional potter, trained at Brighton University and later working from a self-built studio on the shores of Loch Long in Scotland, overlooking the Arrochar Alps.
That time - working slowly, precisely and in close relationship with materials - continues to inform my approach to making and building.

After many years working alone, I returned to Brighton to focus on collaborative, hands-on building work. I now enjoy working as part of a team, creating spaces that are practical, grounded, and quietly restorative.

Meet Phil and Vicki Gilbert!
Founders of Saltpath Coaching, whom we are proud to welcome as partners at The Wild Space. Their journey began with a shared love for adventure, meeting while traveling the world and immersing themselves in different cultures and ways of life.

Phil is also the founder of Saltcircle, a men’s group dedicated to growth and connection. As a Transformative Life Coach, qualified breathwork facilitator, and Wim Hof Method instructor, he brings together breath, cold exposure and lived experience to create grounded, transformative experiences.

Vicki is The Wild Space’s in-house sauna master, leading traditional aufguss rituals with skill and deep care. Together, Phil and Vicki designed and built the large sauna at The Wild Space and now host contrast therapy retreats, Breath, Fire & Ice sessions, and full moon saunas throughout the year.

Their offerings are immersive, intentional experiences that reconnect you with breath, body, and inner resilience - using the intelligent interplay of heat, cold, and presence.
